Bijen Dyrek, Founder of Bijou of Scottsdale
Born in Istanbul, Bijen grew up surrounded by exotic things, from the unique architecture to its rich cuisine; Turkey has influenced Bijen's approach to her lifestyle and to her jewelry creations. Bijen's grandfather and uncle were gold smiths in her native country so designing unique wearable art has been part of her (upbringing, culture, DNA, essence, makeup) with a rich tradition of the of the crafting and appreciation of fine things.
Bijen was gifted with a naturally sense of proportion and style, her keen sense of design makes a statement as to her own personality along with many of her clients. With no professional training, Bijen has embarked on a journey of self discovery with her designs and along with her passion for giving back.
Bijou of Scottsdale was launch 2008. Some of her first designs were signature pieces created exclusively for a charity that she truly passionate about. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation hosts its annual Promise Ball for which Bijen designed and donated her iconic diamond cuff in 2008. Her most treasured possession in the world is the exact same cuff that she designed. During the gala, a second cuff was slipped onto her arm by her husband to celebrate both her launch of "Bijou of Scottsdale" and her 50th birthday. Bijen commitment to supporting charities knows no boundaries; both her husband and daughter have Type 1 diabetes, "my mission is to help find a cure in my daughter's lifetime."
Inspired my some of the greatest jewelry houses in the world, Cartier and designers like Harry Winston, Bijou of Scottsdale has created a line of fine jewelry as one-of-a-kind as it's designer, "Like a classic design from Oscar de la Renta, my jewelry has to have the same fit, style and classic elegance."
Bijen has taken her designs from a sketch on a cocktail napkin, to selecting the stones, to the bench. Her craftsmen work in the highest quality materials, from semi precious stone to fine diamonds, from 18 k white gold to 22k yellow gold. Bijou of Scottsdale has defined luxury.
"Luxury is the highest level of quality that a person has at that point in their life, as an individual progresses so does their sense and appreciation of quality." Bijen designs are the highest form of luxury one could bestow on themselves or a loved one.
When Bijen is not designing jewelry she is still creating. Traveling with her family is both a form of relaxation and inspiration. "I find my best ideas when I'm not looking for them." Some of her favorite spots in the world are Aspen, Balboa Island and New York City.
Bijou of Scottsdale's (Bijen's) goal is to remain an intimate and exclusive brand catering to a discerning clientele. As a private jeweler, "Bijou of Scottsdale" continues to focus on the quality, delivery and personal service that it's loyal clients has become accustomed to.
Bijen's personality is "Bijou of Scottsdale."
